Process documentation Constituent Service Self-Registration Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

A constituent can use this business process to register him/herself using the Internet in order to access services that require registration. With self-registration, the constituent communicates directly with SAP CRM and transfers their data directly. A corresponding business partner with the required role features is created in SAP CRM and in the integrated SAP R/3 system in accordance with this constituent data.  The constituent receives their personal access authorization so that they can log on to the system.

In addition to the self-registration of individual people, an organization can also register through a contact person.

Prerequisites

SAP provides sample BSP applications that you can copy and adjust to suit your own requirements. For more information, see the Configuration Support for this Business process on the tab page Configuration or in CRM Customizing, under Customer Relationship Management ® E-Service ® Web Requests ® Internet User.

Process Flow

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

       1.      Call Registration Service (Web Client)

The constituent starts the self-registration service by clicking on the corresponding link on the Internet. The corresponding BSP application is called and the form is displayed in a browser window.

       2.      Complete Form (Web Client)
The constituent enters their personal data in the form fields. They also define their user data (user and password) as well as address and communication data, which they want to use in the future to register in the system.

The system can also generate an initial password for special registrations.

       3.      Submit Form (Web Client)
The data will not be sent to SAP CRM if the form is incomplete or filled in incorrectly.  Specific error messages ask the constituent to correct/add the appropriate data.

       4.      System Checks Entries (CRM Server)
The system checks whether a registration already exists in the system for the transferred registration data. If this is the case, the registration is terminated with an error message.

       5.      System Creates User and Business Partner (CRM Server)
If the registration check is successful, the system generates the user and the business partner.

       6.      System Replicates Business Partner (CRM Server)
The system replicates the business partner for the corresponding SAP R/3.

       7.      System Receives Business Partner (SAP R/3)
The business partner is generated in SAP R/3.

       8.      Registration is Approved (CRM Server)
Registration can be checked and approved by a processor via the established workflow. This step is skipped with a fully automatic self-registration process.

       9.      Notify Constituent (CRM Server)
If the self-registration process is carried out through a workflow, the constituent will be informed per email by the responsible processor if registration is successful. With a fully automatic self-registration, the constituent is informed about successful registration on the BSP confirmation page.
