Tab Page: Indexing
Metadata
On the Indexing
Metadata tab page for the BI metadata search in the Administration functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench,
you can use
Metadata Search/ Documents to check the required settings and index metadata.
The Indexing Metadata tab page contains the following fields and functions:
Status Display
Field |
What You Need to Know |
Status of search engine |
The system displays whether the TREX server is configured correctly. Display options: OK/Not Completely Installed |
Status of search/index(ing) |
The system displays the indexing and the search status. Selection options: · Only Indexing Possible (delta and initial indexing possible) · Indexing and Search Possible (delta and initial indexing as well as search possible) · No Indexing/Search Possible |
RFC connection |
The system displays the current RFC connection to the TREX search engine. If you want to use a different RFC connection, select another RFC connection in the BI system using input help. |

For more information about installing the search engine and creating and entering a RFC connection, see SAP Reference IMG ® SAP Customizing Implementation Guide ® SAP NetWeaver ® Business Intelligence ® Connection of TREX.
Configuring object types for the search
A screen with a list of all the object types relevant to the BI metadata search and the related search/index status appears. The selected object types are available for indexing and search.
You can exclude individual object types from the search or indexing by deselecting the indicator. In that case, the system can only search for the object type in a database search. This is slower, the system distinguishes between upper and lower case letters, and search by attributes is not supported.
If you select active objects for the search or indexing, perform an initial indexing.

Note that an object type is available for indexing and search after it has been selected, however, the last change made to the object type is only implemented in the index if you perform initial indexing again.
Delta Indexing
Field |
What You Need to Know |
Status of indexing job |
The system displays whether delta indexing is scheduled. Display options: Scheduled/Not Scheduled |
Start date |
Date and time that the index job is scheduled to run. |
|
The Start Time dialog box appears. Specify that you want the indexing program to run as a regular job. This ensures that the index queue is processed regularly. If you choose No Indexing/Search Possible as the status for indexing and search, the system infers that indexing cannot be executed. Change the indexing/search status. |
|
The Simple Job Selection screen appears. The Job Name field contains the name of the indexing job.
You can
select the jobs that need to be displayed in the overview, as well as restrict
the Job Status, Job Start Condition, and Job Step.
To display a scheduled job, you have to choose the Planned option under Job
Status. Under Choose |
