Transferring Data from OLTP to BW 

Before you load any master data from OLTP to BW, ensure that the change pointer is activated in both the IS-U system and the CRM system. In the IS-U system, you can verify this in Customizing under Basis Components ® Application Link Enabling (ALE) ® Modeling and Implementing Business Processes ® Master Data Distribution ® Replication of Modified Data ® Activate Change Pointers – Generally. In the CRM system, go to Customizing under Basis ® Distribution (ALE) ® Modeling and Implementing Business Processes ® Master Data Distribution ® Replication of Modified Data ® Activate Change Pointers – Generally. The change pointers must be permanently active. Deactivation results in the loss of the master data delta and requires you to initialize the delta transfer again for all master data DataSources.

Unless stated otherwise, all the notes below apply to the following cases:

·        Full upload:

·        Delta transfer

·        Delta initialization

In the case of large installations, we recommend you do not perform a full upload. Only use delta initializations and Delta transfers. Always use PSA updates.
