Function documentation Monitoring Availability Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can use CCMS (transaction RZ20) to monitor the availability of individual TREX servers (services) using a heartbeat with GRMG.

Prerequisites

To monitor the availability of TREX, the following prerequisites must be met.

The configuration file of the TREX daemon has been modified so that the TREX daemon starts the TREX GRMG server automatically.

The TREX servers to be checked were defined in the configuration file for the TREX GRMG server installed.xml.

The name and the structure of the GRMG server were defined in the XML customizing file GRMG_config.xml. The file has been loaded to the CCMS and activated.

Features

A scenario in CCMS describes a single TREX host. If you want to monitor a distributed installation with multiple TREX hosts, each host has its own scenario in CCMS. The TREX servers on a host form sub nodes of the scenario in question.

The system can check the availability of the following TREX servers.

     Index server

     Queue server

     Preprocessor

     Name server

     Web server

You define which TREX servers the system checks in the XML customizing file. By default the name server is not checked, as it is not activated in an installation with a single host.

At the moment the system checks the following:

     For all TREX servers:

Are the TREX servers available?

     For the index server:

Can an index be created, a document indexed, and the document then found using the search function.

     For the queue server:

Which queues are recognized by the queue server?

Activities

Using transaction RZ20 ® CCMS Monitor Sets ® SAP CCMS Monitors for Optional Components ® TREX, you can display all TREX scenarios that you can monitor.

Note

This is the default path for TREX scenarios. If you have defined your own monitors, follow the relevant path in your system.

If you select a scenario, you can check the status and take any necessary measures.

Status

Meaning

Action

Green

The TREX servers are available or not activated on this host.

No action necessary.

Red

At least one TREX server cannot be reached or has problems.

Find out which TREX server has a ’red’ status. Attempt to correct the error.

See: Troubleshooting when status is red.

White

The TREX GRMG server is not available or could not be reached.

See: Troubleshooting when status is white.
