Availability Monitoring (Heartbeat) with
GRMG
The availability of TREX services can be checked using a heartbeat with GRMG. The SAP system (CCMS) uses an HTTP request to send a GRMG-defined XML file to one of the TREX GRMG servers that runs on the TREX host. The TREX GRMG server analyzes the XML file and starts the relevant scenario text to check the availability of the individual TREX server on the selected TREX host.

You can run more than one TREX instance on a TREX host. For every TREX instance you can use a TREX GRMG server that monitors the availability of the TREX server for this TREX instance.
The following TREX servers (services) can be checked for a TREX instance (in a TREX installation):
· Index server
· Queue server
· Preprocessor
· Name server
· Web server
Availability monitoring is based on the technology of SAP CCMS Generic Request and Message Generator (GRMG). A TREX GRMG server runs on every TREX host. CCMS sends requests to the TREX GRMG server at regular intervals. The TREX GRMG server analyzes each request and begins tests to check the availability of the individual TREX servers. The TREX GRMG server than returns the result to CCMS.
