Status Maintenance and Display in Business Transactions
Use
In the business transaction, you can display and, if applicable, change the system status and/or the user status for the entire transaction or for individual items with an object status at both header and item level. The following rule applies: A user status can basically be changed, whereas a system status can only be changed if the system allows it. You can, for example, set Do not distribute until your document is ready to be transferred into subsequent systems.
Information is displayed for the status at header level on the General tab page. From here, you can branch to the Status tab page.
The Status column is available in the item overview, in which the corresponding status of the item is displayed.
Detailed information on the status is also available in the item detail on the Status tab page.

The functions explained here are not available in all business transactions.
Prerequisites
If you want to display and maintain the user statuses, you need to have maintained a
status profile and assigned it to the relevant transaction types and item categories. To do this, go into Customizing and choose Customer Relationship Management ® Transactions ® Basic Settings ® Status Management. Make the assignments in the activities Define Transaction Types and Define Item Categories.Features
Setting and deleting status
The menus for setting and deleting status that are displayed when you press the corresponding pushbuttons, always reflect the current document situation. However, the system only displays the statuses for setting that can actually be set, with reference to the current transaction status. If none of the statuses can be set, the Set status pushbutton is not active. Likewise, the system only displays the statuses for deleting that can currently be deleted. If none of the statuses can be deleted, the Reset status pushbutton is inactive.
Help for individual statuses
The "Help" symbol in the status line indicates whether documentation is available for this system status. Click on the symbol to read this documentation.
Status analysis
If you are responsible for the system and, in order to analyze a problem, you want to know in detail why the system does not display a specific status for setting, for example, you can press the Status analysis pushbutton to call up a technical analysis function.
Functions at header level
The statuses that are not active are displayed for selection in the list box. During selection, the corresponding system status is executed according to the settings in the control table.
The detail view for the status is available on the Status tab page. The tab page is split into the following sections:
