The Adapter Framework is used to transfer data from the CRM System to other target systems as well as to transfer data from the R/3 backend to the CRM System. For this reason under Initial Flow Contexts you have to define where the data is coming from (source site type) and where the data is going to (target site type). As there are potentially several flow contexts for each BDoc type, the appropriate flow context is determined here. By selecting the source site type the remaining fields such as user (CRM) and flow context (for example, MI0) are automatically determined.
