Function documentation Assigning Product Catalog Authorizations Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use authorizations to control the use of the product catalog. Depending on authorizations assigned to the user profile, the user can carry out the following product catalog activities:

     Display

     Create

     Change

     Delete

You determine which of the above activities the user can carry out, using the authorization objects assigned to the user’s authorization role.

Features

The following authorization objects are available for accessing and editing product catalog data:

Authorization object

Authorization level

COM_PCAT

General catalog maintenance

COM_PC_AUT

Catalog browsing

COM_PC_LOC

Lists of catalog characteristics maintenance

CRM_CVIEW

Collaborative view maintenance

You assign these objects to authorization roles in transaction PFCG, in your SAP CRM system. In the SAP Easy Access Menu, choose Architecture and Technology ® System Administration ® User Maintenance ® Role Administration ® Roles.

You can determine the level of authorizations, for example, create, delete, display, edit, when you select the object. For example, you can enable certain users to have full authorizations for the objects, and other users to only have display authorizations. For more information about authorization maintenance for users, see Structure linkRole Maintenance.

Specifics for CRM E-Commerce

CRM E-Commerce delivers a number of pre-defined authorization roles for users. These roles contain the various product catalog authorization objects. You copy the roles and change the authorization objects within the roles to suit your needs. In so doing, you can determine which activities users can carry out in the Web shop, and in the product catalog. For example, you can determine that Web Shop Managers are authorized to change the product catalog in the backend system, replicate it to the index server, and display it in the Web shop. Whereas, you can determine that B2B Web shop customers can only display the catalog in the Web shop.

For more information about the predefined CRM E-Commerce authorization roles, see Authorization Concept in CRM E-Commerce and Authorization Roles in CRM E-Commerce.
