Managing Structure Codes 

Use

Structure codes provide the following information:

·        The position of a component within the structure of an individual object

·        The relevance of the component within the structure

Structure codes are particularly important when you dismantle or install components from the structure of an individual object.

You dismantle the individual object Diesel Engine 001 from the component with the structure code Engine.

The structure gap remains with the structure code Engine, thus enabling you to identify at any time that you need to install another engine.

Prerequisites

·        You have created a structured individual object with components to which you want to assign structure codes.

·        At least one catalog of structure codes is available in the system.

·        At least one catalog is defined for structure components. You have carried out the Customizing  activity Define Available Catalogs for Individual Object Structure under Customer Relationship Management ® Master Data® Products ® Individual Objects.

·        If you want to search in an external code catalog when assigning a structure code, or if an external code catalog is to be used to validate the structure codes, you have to implement a Business Add-In (BadI). To do this, choose Customer Relationship Management ® Master Data ® Products ®Individual Objects ® BAdI: Include External Catalogs for Individual Object Structure.   

Features

You can add one structure code from each code catalog to a component. You can use the following code catalogs:

·        Internal catalogs that you entered in CRM

·        External catalogs from an external system

You can create and delete the structure codes of a component.

Adding Structure Codes

       1.      In the object structure of an individual object, select the component to which you want to add a structure code.

       2.      A separate tab page is available for structure codes on which you create a new entry for each structure code of the current component and make the required entries.

The Catalog list contains all the code catalogs from which you have not used a structure code for the current component. When you add a structure code from a code catalog, the relevant entry is deleted from the list.

Deleting Structure Codes

       1.      In the object structure of an individual object, select the component from which you want to delete a structure code.

       2.      Select the structure code, delete it, and save your entries.
