Function documentation Follow-Up Processing of Target Groups without Campaign Reference Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this function in target group processing to trigger further processing for your target groups. No reference to a campaign is needed for this further processing. Subsequent processing without campaign reference is mainly used if additional analysis and reporting functions are not required, (such as when sending birthday mails or information letters). They combine a range of functions that enable you to use your target groups quickly and easily.

Your target groups can be further processed in different ways:

·        Export target group to file

·        Send target group to channel

·        Create business transaction

Prerequisites

To be able to export the business partner data of a target group to a file, you must maintain the correct file path in the IMG, under Cross-Client Maintenance of File Names and Paths. For more information, see the IMG documentation under Customer Relationship Management   ® Marketing ® Segment Builder ® Maintain File Path.

In order to contact your target group via the Internet Mail channel, you must have maintained a sender address in Customizing or entered a specific business partner as the sender. To maintain sender addresses in Customizing, choose the following in the IMG Customer Relationship Management ® Marketing ® Marketing Planning and Campaign Management ® Personalized Mail ® Maintain Sender Addresses for E-mail.

Activities

Export target group to file

You use this function to export the business partner data for a target group to a file, in order to process this data further at a later date, or simply for storage purposes.

You have the option to decide in detail which business partner fields the export file will contain. You use the BAdI CRM_MKTTG_SEG_MEM_EX to define the desired fields.

To use the BAdI field selection in the SAP GUI, select the option Export Target Group (User-Defined).

In the SAP GUI, you also have the option to define the desired fields individually (option: Export Target Group with Field Name Filter). Use the Filter Field Names pushbutton to display an overview of all existing business partner fields and choose the desired fields. You also have the option to save these personalized field selections as a variant. To do this, select Save as Variant and enter an ID and a description for your variant.

You can set the Separator (Semicolon) indicator to create a sequential file on the application server. In this file, a semicolon is added after every field value. When uploading the file to Excel, this defines where a new column starts.

The name of the file you create is freely definable. The file name you specify is saved in the logical file path MARKETING_FILES, which you define in Customizing (see Prerequisites). The data is written to two files: a data file that contains the actual data and a meta file that contains the description of the data (for example field types, names of the fields). In the standard system, MARKETING_FILES refers to the DIR_GLOBAL directory (transaction AL11). There is no restriction on the number of business partners.

Send target group to channel

With this function, you can send your target groups directly to the desired channel (open channel, e-mail, letter, fax, SMS), without going via a campaign.

In the Address field, enter the business partner whose name is to appear as the sender’s address in personalized e-mails. For the communication channels letter, fax and SMS, the address for this business partner will then always be used as the sender’s address. For e-mails, you also have the option of using an e-mail address defined in Customizing.

Depending on which channel is used to contact the business partners, you can select which form you want to use. Before sending, the communication data is checked. Only those business partners with correct addresses are contacted. This check is not used for the open channel.

In the SAP GUI, you also have the option to trigger the sending of several target groups to the corresponding channel simultaneously. In addition to the target group selected in the Segment Builder, you can use the Insert Row icon to include additional target groups.

If you choose Generate Contacts in the SAP GUI, a Structure linkContact is created for every single business partner. If you choose the Generation Data button, the system displays a screen where you can enter the required transaction type, priority, person responsible, and start and end dates.

Create business transaction

You can use this function to generate business transactions (Structure linkcontact, Structure linktask, Structure linklead) for the members of your target group directly from the Segment Builder. Different fields can be filled, depending on which transaction you selected. Transaction type, priority and period can be entered for all three transaction types. For contacts, you can also enter a person responsible. For leads, you can enter an employee responsible and you can assign additional products in the SAP GUI.

In the SAP GUI, you also have the option to add further target groups using Insert Row, enabling business transactions to be generated simultaneously for several target groups.
