This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Examples: Confirmation Rule and Requirement Rule Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

A customer wishes to buy a product as follows:

10 pc on Jan. 10

The ATP check confirms the following results:

  3 pc on Jan. 10

  4 pc on Jan. 20

 (3 pc unconfirmed)

The following examples illustrate how you can achieve different results, depending on the settings of the Confirmation Rule field and the Requirement Rule field.

C (Delivery proposal)

3 pc on Jan. 10

4 pc on Jan. 20

10 pc on Jan. 10

(Backorder for remaining 3 pc)

All confirmations from SAP APO are transferred to the sales order.

The requested quantity and date remain unchanged. Therefore, the requirements that are sent to SAP APO also remain unchanged. In this case, an outstanding requirement of 3 pc must still be fulfilled.

Date and quantity are fixed.

4 pc on Jan. 20

3 pc on Jan. 10

4 pc on Jan. 20

(No backorder)

All confirmations are transferred to the sales order.

The requested quantity is reduced to the confirmed quantity; the requested delivery date is changed to the confirmed date. In this case, the item is regarded as being fulfilled, and there are no outstanding requirements.

Requirements (sent to SAP APO)

A (One-time delivery)

blank (Create requirements as requested)

3 pc on Jan. 10

10 pc on Jan. 10

(Backorder for remaining 7 pc)

Even though at this stage only 3 pc can be confirmed for Jan. 10, it is still possible that subsequent ATP check or backorder processing can result in a confirmation for the remaining 7 pc for Jan. 10.

If no further pieces can be confirmed, then delivery takes place for only 3 pc. The remaining requirements for 7 pc are deleted when delivery takes place.

Note

To ensure consistency, the Delivery Control field on the Shipping tab for this item should be set to One Time Delivery.

Requirements (sent to SAP APO)

A (One-time delivery)

D (Cancel if not fully confirmed)

None. Item is cancelled.

None.

(No backorder)

Complete delivery must take place on requested delivery date. In this case, this is not possible, so the item is canceled automatically.

There are no confirmations in the sales order, because the item could not be fully confirmed.

No requirements are created.

Note

If you change a sales order item and it cannot be fully confirmed, this item is canceled, and existing requirements are deleted.
