Procedure documentation Creating Publications Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You create Publications, so that the data contained in them can be subscribed to and distributed.

You cannot create publications in a production system, but only in a development or test system. Publications created there are automatically activated, corresponding function modules are generated and a transport request is created which has to be released explicitly so that the publications are transferred into the production system (target system).

Prerequisites

You must have selected the object type Publication in the Object type selection list.

If you are creating publications in the context of special developments on SAP-own systems you should pay particular attention to note 423443.

Procedure

Proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Choose Object ® Create from the application menu, or the corresponding icon from the application toolbar.

The Publication Wizard is started, which helps you to create a new publication.

       2.      Choose Continue and enter the name and type of the new publication in the following screen. A distinction is made here between:

¡        Unfiltered (bulk):

A bulk publication means that you want to assign to this publication one or more replication objects that can be sent in their entirety to Sites and are based on synchronization BDoc types.

¡        Intelligent:

An intelligent publication means that you assign one intelligent replication object with its own distribution table to this publication.

Caution

Do not assign an intelligent replication object to a publication until you have assigned all the dependent replication objects to this object.

¡        Simple intelligent (sync):

A simple intelligent publication has precisely one simple intelligent replication object assigned to it and this object is based on a synchronization BDoc type.

¡        Simple intelligent (msg):

A simple intelligent publication of type msg has precisely one simple intelligent replication object based on assigned to it and this object is based on a messaging BDoc type.

¡        Simple unfiltered (msg):

A simple unfiltered (msg) publication means that you want to assign to this publication one or more replication objects that can be sent in their entirety to sites and are based on messaging BDoc types.

       3.      Select one or more of the replication objects displayed by selecting the corresponding button(s) in the first column from the left in the table. A distinction is again made here between:

¡        Unfiltered (bulk):

All replication objects of the type Unfiltered (bulk) are displayed that are not yet being used in another publication. Select one or more of these.

¡        Intelligent:

All intelligent replication objects are displayed. Select one of them.

¡        Simple intelligent (sync):

Only simple intelligent replication objects are displayed that are based on a synchronization BDoc type. Select one of them.

¡        Simple intelligent (msg):

Only simple intelligent replication objects are displayed that are based on a messaging BDoc type. Select one of them.

¡        Simple unfiltered (msg):

All replication objects of type simple unfiltered (msg) are displayed that are not yet being used in another publication. Select one or more of these.

Only active replication objects are ever displayed, regardless of the type of the publications.

       4.      Choose Continue to proceed to the next screen. In the case of intelligent and simple intelligent publications, you now have to establish the criteria fields for data distribution. This step is omitted for publications of the type unfiltered (bulk) and simple unfiltered.

       5.      Select the criteria field you require for the publication from the left-hand table.

Select the respective buttons in the first column on the left and then move the selected criteria fields into the table on the right by means of the corresponding arrow key. Assignments that have already been made can be cancelled using the other arrow key.

The following information is displayed for each criteria field:

In the case of simple intelligent publications, the only fields available are those of type D.

       6.      To create the new publication choose Continue and then Complete.

       7.      If the publication has been successfully created, choose Architecture and Technology ® Middleware ® Development ® Generation ® Generation ® Generate Application Table Indexes from your SAP Easy Access user menu to check whether missing indices have to be regenerated.
