Component documentation Selling via eBay® Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

You can use the selling via eBay® (SVE) application to create and manage auctions on eBay®, and to process payment and delivery.

Web auctions are an increasingly popular way to reach new audiences and to allow market demand to determine price. They are also a particularly useful way to sell new and excess inventory, used assets, and time-sensitive products, which reduces your sales and inventory costs.

Implementation Considerations

Installation

You must install SAP Web Application Server 6.40 (J2EE).

If you want to use the business-to-consumer (B2C) checkout (see Features below), you must install SAP E-Commerce B2C for mySAP CRM or for mySAP ERP, depending on whether your back-end system is SAP CRM or SAP ERP.

If you want a faster search when searching product catalogs, you can install Search and Classification (TREX) 6.0 SP01.

For the installation guides, see SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/crm-inst or service.sap.com/erp-inst.

Configuration

If your back-end system is SAP CRM, navigate to the E-Commerce scenario Web Auctions: Selling via eBay in CRM in SAP Solution Manager, and see the configuration documentation Configuration of Web Auctions Administration in CRM E-Commerce.

If your back-end system is SAP ERP, navigate to the business process Managing Auctions for Selling via eBay in ERP E-Commerce in SAP Solution Manager, and see the configuration documentation Configuration of Web Auctions Administration in ERP E-Commerce.

Integration

eBay® and Back-End System

The SVE application is integrated with eBay® and, depending on your back-end system, SAP CRM or SAP ERP.

Smart Forms

The SVE application uses Smart Forms for the following e-mail notifications.

You can also include information that is not part of the current Smart Form, such as promotions and campaigns, and information about upcoming auctions. This requires you to edit the Smart Form in transaction SMARTFORMS.

The underlying technology is SAPconnect. For more information, see Structure linkSAPconnect (BC-SRV-COM), which you can find on SAP Help Portal under SAP NetWeaver.

Features

eBay® Checkout or Business-to-Consumer (B2C) Checkout

You can combine the SVE application with a business-to-consumer (B2C) checkout instead of the eBay® checkout. Auction winners must then use the B2C checkout instead of the eBay® checkout. With the B2C checkout, you can:

Maximize cross-selling and up-selling opportunities by leveraging B2C functionality

Determine tax and shipping using the elaborate methodologies available through condition techniques in the back-end system

To use the B2C checkout, you must first enable it. For more information, see Configuration Mapping.

Monitoring the Selling via eBay® Application

You can monitor the SVE application through features such as single activity trace (SAT), heartbeat, and logging. This enables you to:

Continuously assess the health of the application

Quickly identify the components responsible for any error conditions or incorrect behavior, and quickly troubleshoot the application

You monitor the SVE application from the J2EE Engine Visual Administrator, where you can also configure the usage of the monitoring functionality.
