User Management Configuration Tool 
The user management configuration tool provides system administrators with a user interface for configuration tasks such as setting up connections to user data sources.
The user management configuration tool is integrated into the following:
· The System Administration role shipped with SAP NetWeaver Portal
To start the tool, choose System Administration ® System Configuration, and then choose UM Configuration in Detailed Navigation.
· The stand-alone Identity Management Web application
To start the tool, navigate to http://<J2EE_Engine_hostname>:<J2EE_Engine_HTTP_port>/useradmin and choose User Management Configuration.
The configuration
data is stored in the J2EE Engine. You can also use the Config Tool of the
J2EE Engine to change the user management configuration. See

The tool consists of the following tabs:
Data Sources
Here you can do the following:

Define the data
source or set of data sources that the user management service is to use for
storing and retrieving user management data. See

Upload and download
data source configuration files to and from the J2EE Engine. See

LDAP Server
Here you can
provide the details required to connect to an LDAP directory. See

SAP System
Here you can
provide the details required to connect to an ABAP-based SAP System using the
Remote Function Call (RFC) protocol. See

as a Data Source.
Security Settings
Here you can do the following:
· Define the minimum and maximum length of user IDs
· Define password rules
· Define how many times users can enter an incorrect password before having their account locked
· Set the validity of SAP logon tickets
· Define an SAP reference system for SAP logon tickets

Notification E-Mails
· Specify an SMTP server
· Define for which events notification e-mails are to be sent to users or administrators

User Mapping
Here you can define
the level of encryption used in user mapping. See

After changing settings using the configuration tool, you must restart the Java application server for the changes to take effect.
