 Pre-Season Projection

With this feature you can have Demand Data Foundation (DDF) generate a pre-season projection of future unit sales for products in SAP Assortment Planning for Retail.

Assortment planners need a weekly projected unit sales value for the planned period at the variant-location-week level for every product in their assortment list. The projection enables them to plan their (initial) purchase order (for example, the first 8 weeks of sales) and know the weekly financial plan for their assortment for budgeting.

The pre-season projection uses the historical unit sales of the assigned reference product, in the reference location, over the reference period to calculate a future sales distribution by day over the planned period.

Additional Details

DDF now supports SAP Assortment Planning for Retail as a consuming application. SAP Assortment Planning for Retail uses DDF as the platform for data. This data, which includes the aggregated point-of-sale (POS) data, can be used to generate a pre-season unit sales projection at the product variant level.

Variants (typically, size/color/style combinations) can be defined at different levels for different retailers. In most cases, the generated pre-season projection therefore is a size curve distribution, provided the size is distributed across different variants.
