Component documentationMultichannel Transaction Data Management

SAP Customer Activity Repository enables you to store sales data originating from different channels in a central location, providing you with an overview of your business across all channels.

SAP Customer Activity Repository makes use of the following types of transactional data:

  • Point-of-Sale (POS) transactional data, received from the connected brick-and-mortar stores.

Sales transactions generated at the point-of-sale locations (typically cash registers at brick-and-mortar stores) are sent to POS Inbound Processing Engine (PIPE) and stored in SAP Customer Activity Repository.

For more information, see POS Data Transfer and Audit.

  • Sales documents, accessed from a source SAP ERP system.

Sales documents are created in SAP ERP. There are numerous ways in which sales documents can be created, one example being, a sales order generated using interaction center in SAP Customer Relationship Management triggering the creation of a sales document of type Sales Order in SAP ERP.

For more information, see Usage of External Data by SAP Customer Activity Repository.

As the transactional data coming from POS sales and SAP ERP sales documents is available in a single repository, SAP Customer Activity Repository is a platform for SAP Retail applications and a unified source of multichannel transactional data for the SAP HANA Content for SAP Customer Activity Repository.

Multiple cross-channel analysis scenarios, made available using the SAP HANA content for SAP Customer Activity Repository, include:

  • Which products sell better in a particular channel?

  • How do the actual sales compare to the forecasted sales for a particular product?

  • What are the top selling products across all channels?

Furthermore, consuming applications use the SAP HANA content for SAP Customer Activity Repository to access multichannel transaction data from a single source using one data model.

Order Channel Definitions and Assignment Rules

POS transactions, sent from the point-of-sale, and the sales documents, accessed from a source SAP ERP system, do not include order channel information. SAP Customer Activity Repository contains the order channel definitions specific to your business. Furthermore, the repository allows you to define rules for assigning order channels to POS transactions and associating order channels to sales documents.

For more information, see Order Channel Management.
