 Multichannel Sales Analysis

This virtual data model (VDM) provides the prerequisites for analyzing the combined sales and transactional data across all channels to be used in controlling, marketing, promotion management, and monitoring retailing processes. This VDM consolidates the information provided by the POS Transaction Sales Analysis and Sales Analysis Based on Billing Documents VDMs to give you an overall view of customers transactional activities across channels.

This virtual data model provides you with answers to the following questions:

  • What are my sales across different order channels (for example, point-of-sale (POS) data, billing documents created in SAP ERP)?

  • What are key customer needs and behaviors as indicated by information about sales history, returns, and customer loyalty data?

  • What consumer demand trends do my consolidated sales across all channels identify?

  • What is the performance for a specific product during a particular time period across multiple channels? For example, what were my net sales, gross sales, returns, and gross margin for coffee makers products over the last seven days in the Walk In (store) channel as compared to the Web channel?

  • What were my best selling (fast-moving) and poorest selling (slow-moving) products by units sold in a particular store over a particular period?

Structure

Report Query Views

The query views listed below are included in this virtual data model. These query views are intended to be used as templates and are not intended for productive use. The queries include an extensive set of characteristics, measures and master data that may not be required for your business and that, as a result, can unnecessarily slow down the performance of the views. Therefore, you can use the query views listed below as templates to build several smaller, targeted query views which consume the reuse views, also listed below.

  • Multichannel sales by location week comparison query (MultiChannelSalesByLocationWeekComparisonQuery)

This view allows users to display the sales at a particular location, showing a week-by-week comparison.

    Recommendation Recommendation

At a minimum, the WeekDay attribute should be selected for display within the result set since the comparison of one week day's sales to another is based upon the associated week day value.

    End of the recommendation.
  • Multichannel sales by article week comparison query (MultiChannelSalesByArticleWeekComparisonQuery)

This view allows users to display a comparison of the sales data for each channel for the current week versus the previous week for a specific article within an article hierarchy.

    Caution Caution

This query is driven by article hierarchies. Results for articles not assigned to any article hierarchy will never be displayed. Furthermore, if an article is assigned to multiple article hierarchies, only the article hierarchy defined as the Main Assignment is considered.

    End of the caution.

    Recommendation Recommendation

At a minimum, the OrderChannel attribute should be selected for display within the result set since the comparison of one week's sales to another is based upon the associated order channel value.

    End of the recommendation.
  • Multichannel sales query (MultiChannelSalesQuery)

This view allows users to display combined data from the transaction log of the point-of-sale (POS) system, sales documents from SAP ERP, and master data from SAP ERP.

  • Multichannel sales by article location query (MultiChannelSalesByArticleLocationQuery)

This view allows users to display the sales for a specific article by location and order channel for a given week by day of the week.

    Caution Caution

This query is driven by article hierarchies. Results for articles not assigned to any article hierarchy will never be displayed. Furthermore, if an article is assigned to multiple article hierarchies, only the article hierarchy defined as the Main Assignment is considered.

    End of the caution.
  • Billing document item article hierarchy query (BillingDocumentItemArticleHierarchyQuery)

This view allows users to display transactional data from a billing document detailing the article hierarchy.

    Caution Caution

This query is driven by article hierarchies. Results for articles not assigned to any article hierarchy will never be displayed. Furthermore, if an article is assigned to multiple article hierarchies, only the article hierarchy defined as the Main Assignment is considered.

    End of the caution.
  • Billing document item material group hierarchy query (BillingDocumentItemMatGroupHierQuery)

This view allows users to display transactional data from a billing document item along with the material group hierarchy.

  • Billing document item query (BillingDocumentItemQuery)

This view allows users to display data on item level from billing documents. This data is enriched with text and code information from the master data in SAP ERP.

  • Multichannel versus forecast query (MultiChannelSalesVsForecastQuery)

This view combines multichannel sales data from SAP Customer Activity Repository and forecast data from Demand Data Foundation (DDF).

    Caution Caution

This query is driven by article hierarchies. Results for articles not assigned to any article hierarchy will never be displayed. Furthermore, if an article is assigned to multiple article hierarchies, only the article hierarchy defined as the Main Assignment is considered.

    End of the caution.
  • Point-of-sales system sales query (POSSalesQuery)

This view allows users to display the full data (characteristics and measures) from the POS transaction log combined with master data. The amount measures are available with currency conversion with the display currency field.

Reuse Views

The report query views are supported by several reuse views, including the following:

  • Multichannel sales (MultiChannelSales_V2)

This view obtains and combines sales data from the POS transaction log and sales documents from SAP ERP.

Note that this view completely replaces its predecessor view, MultiChannelSales, which is now deprecated.

  • Multichannel POS forecast (MCPOSSalesForecast)

This view provides forecast data from Demand Data Foundation (DDF).

  • Multichannel sales in display currency (MultiChannelSalesInDisplayCurrency)

This view allows users to display the amount measures in the display currency.

  • Billing document item (BillingDocumentItem)

This view obtains billing document item data, including codes and KPIs from billing documents in SAP ERP.

  • POS sales (POSSales_V2)

This view obtains the complete set of characteristics and measures from the POS transaction log.

Note that this view completely replaces its predecessor view, POSSales , which is now deprecated.

  • POS Log Item Analytic (POSLogItemAnalytic)

This view obtains the transaction item information from SAP Customer Activity Repository.

  • Common View Grouping for Sales Analysis Virtual Data Models

Business Objects

These views are built on the following business objects:

  • POS transaction

  • Billing document

  • Material

  • Plant
