Function documentationProduct Master Data

The product master data is used to support planning, logistics, modeling, forecasting, and reporting. For example, you need the product master data to plan promotions or schedule demand modeling and forecasting processes.

Demand Data Foundation (DDF) uses an inbound interface (function module/DMF/MDIF_PRODUCT_INBOUND) to receive the product master data through a Remote Function Call (RFC). For more information about this inbound interface, see the function module documentation (transaction SE37).

Integration

DDF can receive the product master data from an SAP ERP application (transaction DRFOUT) or a non-SAP application.

Prerequisites

  • You have ensured that DDF is configured.

  • If you assign products to a product hierarchy, you have ensured that the product hierarchy exists and is available in DDF.

Features

  • The inbound interface receives the Create, Delete, and Update actions for the product data.

  • The inbound interface receives the association between the product and the product hierarchy.

  • DDF performs various validation checks on the received data. For example, it checks whether the product type exists and is available in DDF.
