Unified Demand Forecast
Note
For more information about UDF, see the following sources:
SAP Note 2050229: latest revisions of the UDF AFL (Unified Demand Forecast application function library)
Unified Demand Forecast: description of the demand modeling and forecasting services
The performance of demand modeling and forecasting has been improved using SAP HANA calculation views.
The outlier detection during preprocessing has been enhanced. Exceptional sales values observed during offers and holidays are now excluded from demand modeling.
Data changes during preprocessing can now be traced. During preprocessing, the system cleans up potential issues in the provided historical sales data. Examples include outliers, out-of-stock situations, days when the location was closed, or data gaps filled with zero sales.
For more information about how to set up the tracing, see the documentation of the Define Modeling Control Settings
Customizing activity under (transaction SPRO).
The forecasting of complex offers, such as Buy X Get Y (BXGY)
, has been improved. The results of the Y
term are now forecasted in relationship to the X
term. To accomplish this, the task decomposition for the production forecast has been improved to group all products for a location into one task. To implement this improvement, see SAP Note 2176058. If you forecast complex offers, this is a required configuration. For more information about load balancing, see Configure Load Balancing.
Modeling and forecasting now supports additional input data: You can use promotions defined in your SAP ERP system together with the POS_TS
time series (aggregated historical POS data persisted in DDF).
This means that as of this release, you can use SAP ERP promotions with the POS_TS
(new), POS_VDM
, and SO_VDM
time series (for more information, see Time Series).
Prerequisite: Your SAP ERP system must have been set up to provide all the promotional information required for demand modeling and forecasting. To determine those requirements for your customer-specific system landscape, please contact your SAP consultant.
Implementation: UDF consumes the SAP ERP promotions via the RetailPromotionByArticleLocationExcludingBonusBuy
view in the sap.is.retail.ecc
SAP HANA content package. For more information about views with promotional information, see the SAP HANA Live for SAP ERP Views Required by SAP Customer Activity Repository
section of the Installation Guide, SAP Customer Activity Repository
. You can find this guide on SAP Help Portal at .
Demand Data Foundation
The Generic Time Series Data Migration
(/DMF/TS_GENERIC_MIGRATION
) report has been added. You can use this report to migrate time series data from a compressed format into an uncompressed format. For more information, see the report documentation (transaction SE38).
The Product Location Master Data
(/DMF/MDIF_PROD_LOC_INBOUND
) function module has been enhanced to include the IT_PROD_LOC_LAND_COST
parameter. The parameter allows you to use the delivered price when calculating margins for the offer financials and the offer display. Delivered price is a term used to define the total cost of carrying a product at a location. For more information, see the function module documentation (transaction SE37). For related enhancements to the Maintain Indicators for Offer Calculations
Customizing activity, see Effects on Customizing -> Demand Data Foundation
below.
The sales projection, which can be generated for products in SAP Assortment Planning for Retail, has been improved. It now supports two additional types of historical demand data, namely consumption data (CONS_TS
time series) and the virtual data model for sales orders (SO_VDM
time series).
