Function documentationInventory Master Data

The inventory master data represents the inventory information for a specific product in a specific location at a specific time.

Demand Data Foundation (DDF) uses an inbound interface (function module /DMF/OPIF_INVENTORY_INBOUND) to receive the inventory master data through a Remote Function Call (RFC).

Integration

DDF can receive the inventory master data from an SAP ERP application (transaction DRFOUT) or a non-SAP application.

Prerequisites

  • You have ensured that the DDF is configured.

  • If you want to save historical inventory information, select the Save Historical Inventory option in the Define Historical Inventory Information Customizing activity under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Demand Data Foundation Next navigation step Data Maintenance Next navigation step Inventory Next navigation step Define Historical Inventory Information End of the navigation path. For more information, see the Customizing activity documentation in your system (transaction SPRO).

Features

The inbound interface does the following:

  • Receives the Create and Update actions for the inventory data.

  • The historical inventory data is accumulated in Demand Data Foundation (DDF) when a new record is updated for the stock overview for a given product location. Only unrestricted stock type inventory is persisted in the history table.

  • Saves historical inventory information.

Activities

  • Historical

To receive the historical inventory data as initial load in DDF, you can develop your own integration program to receive data from your external BW (SAP or non-SAP) system into DDF.
