In this process, you use tasks to either update or insert missing order channel values in POS transaction records.

Typically, order channel values are assigned to POS transaction line items during the POS Inbound process. However, if the order channel assignment settings have been modified in the Assign Order Channels to Profile or the Assign Order Channels to Sales Item Type Customizing activity, you can execute task 0200 Update Order Channel in Transactions to process all the relevant POS transactions stored in the /POSDW/TLOGF table and update the order channel values of their line items.

Similarly, if order channels have not been assigned to all POS transaction line items, you can execute task 0201 Insert Missing Order Channel in Transactions to assign an order channel value to line items of each of the POS transactions stored in the /POSDW/TLOGF table that are missing this value.

Prerequisites

You have made the following settings in PIPE Customizing:

  • You have set the type of the task to be carried out under Start of the navigation path Tasks Next navigation step One-Step Processing Next navigation step Define Tasks End of the navigation path as required for your implementation and you have checked the correctness of other task settings.

  • Under Start of the navigation path POS Transactions End of the navigation path, you have checked the task group that is assigned to the relevant POS transaction and you assign a task group if required.

  • You have ensured that the task group, which is assigned to the transaction type of your POS transaction, exists under Start of the navigation path Tasks Next navigation step Define Task Group End of the navigation path.

  • You have ensured that the task to be carried out is assigned to the relevant task group under Start of the navigation path Tasks Next navigation step Assign Tasks to Task Group End of the navigation path.

  • You have specified the settings for assigning order channels to POS transaction line items under Start of the navigation path Multichannel Enablement for POS Transactions Next navigation step Assign Order Channels to Profile End of the navigation path and Start of the navigation path Multichannel Enablement for POS Transactions Next navigation step Assign Order Channels to Sales Item Type End of the navigation path.

Process

Tasks 0200 Update Order Channel in Transactions and 0201 Insert Missing Order Channel in Transactions are available in the standard system for updating and adding missing order channel values in POS transaction records.

To update or add missing order channel values in POS transaction records, perform the following activities:

  1. Verify the rules for assigning order channels to POS transaction line items in Customizing under the following areas:

    • Customizing for SAP Customer Activity Repository under Start of the navigation path POS Data Management Next navigation step POS Inbound Processing Next navigation step Multichannel Enablement for POS Transactions Next navigation step Assign Order Channels to Profile End of the navigation path.

    • Customizing for SAP Customer Activity Repository under Start of the navigation path POS Data Management Next navigation step POS Inbound Processing Next navigation step Multichannel Enablement for POS Transactions Next navigation step Assign Order Channels to Sales Item Type End of the navigation path.

  2. Make any required modifications to the rules.

  3. Execute task 0200 Update Order Channel in Transactions if you have modified the settings for assigning order channels to POS transaction line items. The task is executed for all for the relevant POS transactions, evaluating whether the order channel assigned to each line item is valid. In all cases where the order channel assigned is not valid, the task updates the order channel value.

    Note Note

    If you have removed the rules for assigning an order channel to a particular sales item type in Customizing, task 0200 Update Order Channel in Transactions does not remove the previously assigned order channel for any line item with this sales item type.

  4. Execute task 0201 Insert Missing Order Channel in Transactions if you have POS transaction line items to which an order channel has not been assigned. The task is executed for all for the relevant POS transactions, evaluating whether the order channel assignment is missing. In all cases where the order channel assigned is missing, the task inserts an order channel value.

    For example, if you have been processing POS transactions prior to specifying rules for assigning order channels to POS transactions in Customizing, you will have transaction records in the /POSDW/TLOGF table that contain line items that do not have an order channel assigned to them. You can then run task 0201 Insert Missing Order Channel in Transactions to add an order channel value to the line items of these transactions.
