Alternate Storage of POS Transaction Data

With this feature, you can reduce the in-memory footprint of infrequently used transactional data by copying it into alternate storage using technology platforms such as SAP IQ and Hadoop.

You can use the new Table Content Aging report (transaction /CAR/TABLE_CONTENT_AGING) to copy transactional data from the /POSDW/TLOGF table to an alternate storage location on a cyclical basis (such as daily, weekly, or monthly).

Note Note

This report was not designed to move large volumes of data movements spanning several months' or years' worth of data. SAP does not recommend using the report in this manner, nor can the stability of your system performance be guaranteed.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

If you are copying transactional data to Hadoop, you must have assigned a source Hadoop host in Customizing for SAP Customer Activity Repository under Start of the navigation path General Settings Next navigation step Storage Optimization Next navigation step Define Hadoop Data Storage Destination End of the navigation path.
