Placeholder Product
With this feature you can create placeholder products in Demand Data Foundation (DDF) and use them for demand modeling and forecasting with Unified Demand Forecast (UDF).
You create placeholder products in DDF when the product is still being planned. For example, this is useful for promotion planning or assortment planning, when you do not yet have all the information to create the product in your SAP ERP system. You create placeholder products in the Mass Maintenance Services
in DDF. Placeholder products are used in forecasting with UDF the same way as products that are imported from or integrated with your SAP ERP system.

Additional Details
When you create a placeholder product, you always assign a reference product to it. UDF uses the historical information from the reference product as input to model and forecast the demand of the placeholder product. This applies to all locations.
