Virtual Data Model: Point-of-Sale (POS) Data

The Unified Demand Forecast (UDF) module in SAP Customer Activity Repository allows you to model and forecast consumer demand. For input, you need to provide historical demand data. You can use the virtual data model for point-of-sale data (time series source POS_VDM) to provide this input. The VDM accesses historical POS data stored in the SAP HANA content of SAP Customer Activity Repository.

Structure

The POS_VDM allows UDF to access transaction log (TLOG) data in SAP Customer Activity Repository. The TLOG data is aggregated to the level of product / location / sales organization / distribution channel / order channel / day. Note that this time series is not persisted in DDF (unlike the POS_TS time series, see Sales).

Note Note

To provide historical POS data, you can use either this VDM or the POS_TS time series.

End of the note.

Via this VDM, UDF consumes the POSAggregatedSalesByArticleLocation view in the sap.is.retail.car SAP HANA content package. The view provides demand modeling with the data required to assess the effects of demand influencing factors (DIFs) on consumer demand.

For more information about the data consumed, see View Grouping: POS Aggregated Sales Data for Demand Data Foundation. You can also find there information about attributes, calculated measures, filters, and tables.

Integration

Prerequisites

Several prerequisites must be fulfilled before you can access and use the SAP HANA content for SAP Customer Activity Repository, including the virtual data model for UDF. For more information, see the following:

Customizing

You select the time series in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Demand Data Foundation Next navigation step Data Maintenance Next navigation step Define Time Series Source End of the navigation path. For more information, see the accompanying documentation (transaction SPRO).

Integrating Promotional Informatino

With this VDM, you can also integrate promotions defined in SAP ERP and use them as input for demand modeling and forecasting. Providing promotional information as part of your demand data is very important because promotions can significantly impact consumer demand and thus, also the forecasted unit sales. You can use the SAP ERP promotions in addition to promotions defined in SAP Promotion Management for Retail, for example.

  • Prerequisite: Your SAP ERP system must have been set up to provide all the promotional information required for demand modeling and forecasting. To determine those requirements for your customer-specific system landscape, please contact your SAP consultant.

  • Integration: Master Data Replication from SAP ERP to Demand Data Foundation

  • Implementation: UDF consumes the SAP ERP promotions via the RetailPromotionByArticleLocationExcludingBonusBuy view in the sap.is.retail.ecc SAP HANA content package. For more information about views with promotional information, see Start of the navigation path http://help.sap.com/carInformation published on non-SAP site Next navigation step <your release> Next navigation step Installation and Upgrade Information Next navigation step Installation Guide Next navigation step SAP HANA Live for SAP ERP Views Required by SAP Customer Activity Repository End of the navigation path.
