You use this function to maintain placeholder products.
You use placeholder products to include products or product groups that are not (yet) available in the product list or article hierarchy of your master data system (such as SAP ERP). For example, retailers do not always have the newest products in their article hierarchy but still want to plan retail events using these products.
You can create a placeholder product from one of the following functional areas:
Product Services
Data Management
Vendor Fund Maintenance
Note
You can assign a reference product to the placeholder product with the following information:
a validity period including the pricing information (you can manually change these prices)
location assignments
historic demand data (sales history) to allow forecasting on the placeholder product using the data from the reference product
You can change the status of a placeholder product as follows:
Unreleased placeholder products can be saved and released or deleted.
Released placeholder products can be unreleased or transferred.
Transferred placeholder products are marked for export to a master data system.
Deleted placeholder products are marked for deletion.
You can also assign product-specific attributes, such as the product display image.
