Monitor Exceptions
You use the Monitor Exceptions function to gain the insight that you need to resolve your exceptions.
To access this function on the SAP Easy Access screen (transaction nwbc), choose .
Your application consumes Demand Data Foundation (DDF).
Your application uses the DDF exception management concept.
Exceptions exist in the system.
Filter Criteria Variants
If you want to use the same set of filter criteria on a regular basis, but do not want to manually specify them each time, you can create and save variants in the Filters section. You can overwrite, delete, and switch between variants as needed. You can also set a default variant that will open automatically when you start the Monitor Exceptions function.
Toggle Filter Criteria Container
You can use this option to hide the Filters section when you are ready to evaluate your filtered exceptions.
Evaluate Exceptions in Tabular or Graphical Display
When evaluating exceptions in tabular display, you navigate from general information to more specific information. You can start by viewing your filtered exceptions to see which business areas are affected. If you select a business area, you can view all the message context types for that area. By selecting a message context type from the list, you can see all its message context instances. To view individual filtered exception messages and their short texts, select a message context instance.
You can switch to graphical display to view a snapshot of how heavily each business area is affected. In addition, the graphical display illustrates the top five most common message types and the quantity in which they occurred in the last five days.
Under Settings, you can adjust the screen layout and sequence in the navigation path to fit your needs.
Business Area
You can use business areas to enable users to focus on exceptions according to their roles and responsibilities. DDF comes with a set of predefined standard business areas, but you can also create your own additional business areas using transaction SE16. In Customizing, you can assign exceptions to one or more business areas, and you can adapt the pre-delivered business area assignment for all standard exceptions.
Context Information
The exception context provides information about the business or technical context to which the exception applies, such as a particular product. Context information consists of a context type and a context value (instance). Examples for context types are product or location; the context values for this type would be the actual product or location IDs.
Collapse Tray
To better focus on processing your exception messages, you can use the Collapse Tray option to hide everything in the Evaluate Exceptions section, except the filtered exception messages and their details. The Details section contains a separate Collapse Tray option.
Details Tray
In the Details Tray, you can select a filtered high-level exception to view its assigned low-level exceptions as well as business area and context details.
Message Status
You can define status selections for high-level exceptions in Customizing. In the Monitor Exceptions function, you can change the status according to your needs. Exceptions automatically receive the status New when they are created.
Deletion of High Level and Low Level Exceptions
When you have resolved an exception, you can mark it for soft deletion in the Filtered Exception Messages group box. High level exceptions will be deleted from the database along with their assigned low level exceptions the next time the Purging Exceptions from the Database report is run.
For information about customizing exceptions and deleting obsolete exceptions, see Exception Management.
