Virtual Data Model: Point-of-Sale (POS) Data
The virtual data model for point-of-sale data (time series source POS_VDM) allows Demand Data Foundation (DDF) to access historical POS data stored in SAP Customer Activity Repository and use it as input for demand modeling with Unified Demand Forecast (UDF).
The POS_VDM provides UDF with access to transaction log (TLOG) data in the SAP Customer Activity Repository data model. The TLOG data is aggregated to the level of product / location / sales organization / distribution channel / order channel / day. Note that this time series is not persisted in the DDF data model (unlike the POS_TS time series, which is).
Using this VDM, UDF consumes the SAP HANA calculation view sap.is.retail.car/POSAggregatedSalesByArticleLocation. The view provides demand modeling with the data required to assess the effects of demand influencing factors (DIFs) on consumer demand.
Note
To use historical POS data as a time series source, you can use either this VDM or the Point of Sale Data Management (POS Data Management) component. For more information about this component, see POS Transaction Management.
With this VDM, you can also use historical promotions that are available in SAP ERP as input for demand modeling. For more information, see ERP Promotion Views.
For more information about the data consumed by this VDM, see View Grouping: POS Aggregated Sales Data for Demand Data Foundation.
You can also find there information about attributes, calculated measures, filters, and tables.
