You can assign actions to steps that do not have substeps, or substeps themselves. You can assign review actions, which require approval by a reviewer, to steps.

Prerequisites

Steps and substeps have been defined in the template creation interface.

Procedure

  1. Select the relevant step or substep from the left panel:

    • To define step actions, select the Step Actions tab. The first action you define is the launch action; you can define additional actions for the step.

    • To define reviewer actions, select the Review Actions tab. Review actions can only be added to steps, and not substeps.

  2. Select Add and enter the name of the step action for the step or substep selected, or the review action if this tab is active.

Highlight the new action name and under Action Detail, associate an interface and related task, entering valid parameters if required for the specified task.

  3. Associate an application with the action and specify the source of the values for each dimension.

Select one of the options under Current View Type; by default if left blank it uses the active user current view:

    • Member Lookup (this provides a dialog box, where you select the relevant dimension member)

    • Inherit from CV (Current View)

    • Inherit from Step Region (only available if the application selected is the same as the controlling application)

    • Inherit from BPF Instance (only available if the application selected is the same as the controlling application)

Result

You have defined actions for your BPF.

You can define additional actions, or choose Next to finish the BPF. You review the information and parameters you provided throughout the template creation process in the Finish BPF step.
