You publish Microsoft Office documents to your Interface for the Web desktop to make them available to users.

Prerequisites

A Web folder exists that points to the application set directory on the server. To set up a Web folder in Windows NT, add a Web folder in My Computer making sure to enter the server name, URL, or IP address for your Interface for the Web server followed by the application set directory (the application set name), for example: http://PC/Server/GlobalMotors.

Publishing from Microsoft Word

Within a Microsoft Word document, choose   File   Save as Web Page  , enter a file name with a default extension of .htm, then choose the Web folder that points to your Planning and Consolidation application set location and an appropriate directory.

You can choose from one of the following directories, as these are the ones that are available from within the Interface for the Web when you add a Web publication to your desktop:

  • AppSetPublications - use this for publications that apply to all applications within the AppSet, that is, publications that are general to the company.

  • [application] - use an application directory, for example BUDGET2009, for publications that are specific to an application.

  • _private - underneath _private are directories by user. Each of these directories is available only to that user.

Publishing from Microsoft PowerPoint

Within a Microsoft PowerPoint file, choose   File   Save as Web Page  , enter a filename with a default extension of .htm, then choose the Web folder that points to your Planning and Consolidation application set location and an appropriate directory.

You can publish the file with special PowerPoint publishing options, such as publishing only selected slides, if desired.

You can choose from one of the following directories, as these are the ones that are available from within the Interface for the Web when you add a Web publication to your desktop:

  • [application] - use an application directory, for example BUDGET2009, for publications that are specific to an application.

  • [site] – use a site directory, for example HQ, for publications that are specific to a site.
