Set up a BPF by providing basic information about the BPF.
You can also modify an existing BPF by selecting Modify Business Process Flow from the Manage Business Process Flows action pane. The modify process uses the same features described here.
The following tables describe the information you need to complete the setup process.
Item |
Description |
---|---|
Name |
The name of the business process flow. |
Description |
A description for the business process flow. |
Controlling application |
The application that governs both the Time dimension for BPF instances and the available dimensions for step regions. Note If you select the Planning application, whose Time dimension is in monthly increments, the BPF works in monthly time increments as well. End of the note. |
BPF Owner |
The person the system notifies when a user raises an issue such as the completion of a step in the BPF. The user must have a valid e-mail address. For information about assigning e-mail addresses to users, see the Planning and Consolidation Security Guide. |
Item |
Description |
---|---|
Drive Dimension |
The dimension that is common to all data regions that users might use in completing the tasks in the BPF. This dimension must have a defined Reviewer property. |
Identity Dimension |
One or more dimensions common to all BPF instances for this template. The system automatically selects the Time dimension used in all BPFs. |
Item |
Description |
---|---|
Recurring Frequency |
Once is the only option available. This sets a BPF to run only once. After it runs, the BPF becomes inactive and does not appear available for users. It does, however, remain in the list of BPFs that an administrator sees, who can edit it for future use. |
Date and Time |
The date and time the BPF becomes active. |
# of days |
The number of days before or after the start of the BPF to notify participants by e-mail that they have steps to complete. (For a future release.) |
Item |
Description |
---|---|
Set Access |
Choose the users and teams to which the BPF applies. Only the people you select in this step see the business process flow in their action pane. |
To set up the business process flow, select Business Process Flows from the navigation pane of the Admin Console, then select Add a new business process flow.
Make sure that you enter data in each setup step (A, B, C, and D) before continuing to the next tab.
Recommendation
It is not necessary to save your data after each step of the procedure. However, this is good practice.
Save your data, then continue with defining steps and substeps within the BPF (see Defining Steps and Sub-Steps).
