You set up and organize Web pages in the Content Library that contain objects and documents you want to share with other users.

Features

  • You can determine the teams or users who can access the page.

  • You can set any page in the Content Library as your home page.

  • You can add objects to Content Library pages you have created. After adding an object to a page, any subsequent updates to the object are shown on the page. You can add the following types of objects:

    • A Web-ready file, which can be a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, published report, Microsoft, Microsoft Word document, Microsoft PowerPoint slide, Web page, and so on, that has been published using Interface for Excel. You specify a title for the file, and then select the file from an AppSet, Application, or Team publications folder. Files in the Appset folder have the highest level of visibility and are available to all valid users of the application set. Files in the Application folder are available to all valid users of an application (versus the application set). Files in the Team folder are available only to a particular team

    • A Web Ready Book, which is a book of reports. You specify a title for the book, then select the book from an AppSet, Application, or Team Publications folder. If you selected a specific report from the book and the report has VaryKeys defined for any dimensions, select the desired members or select CurrentView so the system takes the members from the current view of the user. When set to CurrentView, there may not be reports for ever current view combination. When no reports are available for the current view combination, Interface for the Web displays a message stating that no report is available.

    • A Live Reports File, which is a report created from Live Reporting.

    • A Document File, which is a document saved to the Content Library.

    • A Documents List, which is a list of documents saved to the Content Library.

    • A Web site, for which you specify the URL.

      Note Note

If the Web site you add to a page contains code that blocks it from displaying on a framed page, the Web site opens in a new window when a user opens the containing page. This is because Interface for the Web uses frames, and some commercial Web sites detect that their pages are contained in frames, and redirect their output to a whole page.

      End of the note.
    • A BPF to do list.

You can optionally enter the name of a background image to display behind the BPF list; the image must reside in the /webfolders/<appset>/AppSetPublications/BPFBackground folder on the server.

Activities

Adding a page

You add a new page in the Content Library by choosing Add a new Web page, naming the page, setting its orientation, then moving one or more available objects into the columns on the page.

Adding objects

You can add different types of objects to the Content Library by first adding or modifying a Web page then dragging an object to the desired location on the page. Follow the steps provided and enter the required data. For more information about the types of objects you can put on a page, see Content Library Objects. While adding objects to the Content Library, you can also modify the object, set access to the object, preview the Web page, and save and view the finished page.

Modifying a page

You can modify a page after it has been added to the Content Library by choosing the name of the web page from the Content Library List then choosing Modify this page.

Setting access to a page

To set access to a page that appears in the Content Library List, choose the web page for which you want to set access rights, choose Modify this page, then choose Set access to this Web page. In the Access dialog box, select the teams and/or users to which to grant access, then choose OK. To view the finished web page, choose Save.
