Overwrite mode
The dimension and attribute values in Planning and Consolidation are replaced/overwritten by the newly imported masterdata.

Note
If masterdata is occupied by transaction data or hierarchies in the application, then the masterdata is not deleted, whereas other masterdata that is not occupied by transaction data is deleted. The system returns a message in the log. The status of the Data Manager package is Failed.
Update mode
The masterdata in in Planning and Consolidation are overwritten by the newly imported masterdata if the values are the same; the other masterdata are retained.
Example
