From Interface for the Web, start Insight, then choose Maintain KPIs from the action pane.
Choose Add new KPI from the action pane.
In Step 1 – Define KPI, do the following:
Choose an application. The subsequent field choices reflect the specified application.
Enter the account for which you want to define the KPI.
Accept the default KPI name based on the selected account or enter a different name.
Accept the default members for the dimensional constraints, which are the topmost members in the hierarchy to which you have access, or enter new ones.
Specify a correlation context for how you want to calculate root cause and prediction values for this KPI: Base values or Variance.
In Step 2 – Define Basis, do the following:
Accept the default performance bands, or adjust them. See the table above for the default values.
Note
You only need to modify one end of a band. The range limit of the adjacent band adjusts accordingly.
It is not necessary to modify the range of the Normal band directly. Both ranges are determined by modifying the adjacent bands.
Choose the default algorithm from the list, and select other algorithms to use to calculate the prediction.
Available algorithms are the following:
Linear regression (default)
Nonlinear regression
Multi-line regression
Piecewise line regression
In Step 3 – Select Options, do the following:
Indicate a preference for receiving notifications of favorable or unfavorable variances, and whether to provide the ability to modify or delete the KPI definitions.
Choose how you want to view KPI values in the dashboard.
Indicate if you want to view year-to-date values.
Choose the scale for the data.
Select how many digits to display to the right of the decimal point when viewing values.
Choose OK when you have completed all modifications.
Note
If you edit an existing performance indicator, the dashboard updates the next time the KPI is recalculated, which may be overnight or the next time you synchronize the Insight data.
