Criteria for Reopening Steps

You enable the reopen function when you are defining steps in the template creation interface. For more information, see Defining Steps and Sub-Steps.

The Allow Reopen checkbox must have been selected in the previous step, which is the step that you want to reopen.
The reopen function is only available for (the previous step) the step prior to the one that is now active (the current step); a user cannot reopen a step that is not consecutive.
The final step cannot be reopened.
You must be an owner or reviewer in both the current step (active step) and the previous step to be able to reopen that step. If you are the Business Process Flow (BPF) instance owner you can reopen a step, regardless of owner or reviewer assignment, from the BPF monitor.
You cannot specify which step region to reopen, it is a step operation.

All Step Regions	Matched Step Region
You must be a participant in at least one step region of the previous step. (Instance owner can ignore this).	You must be a participant of the matched step region in the previous step to reopen that step region. (Instance owner can ignore this).
You must be a participant in at least one step region of the current step. (Instance owner can ignore this).	You must be a participant of the matched step region in the current step to reopen that step region in the previous step (Instance owner can ignore this).
Opening criteria of the current step is All.	Opening criteria of the current step is Matched.
The current step must be fully active, which means that all the step regions of the current step must be Open, Reopened, Rejected, or Submitted.	The current step must be an active step, which means at least one of the step regions of the current step must be Open, Reopened, Rejected, or Submitted.

When you reopen Step 1, all step regions for Step 2 change to status Delayed.

Matched Step Region

When you reopen Step 1, step region Canada reopens. Canada changes to status Pending in Step 2.

Step region US does not reopen as it is already complete in step 2 — the step region must be active in the current step to reopen it in the previous step.

In the examples above, if the Allow Reopen setting for Step 1 is not enabled, Step 1 cannot be reopened.
