Book publishing allows you to publish a set of reports to a book.

Features

The book publishing component includes the following features:

  • A book can be published to Interface for the Web as an HTML or PDF file, or exported to an ASCII file or printer.

  • A book presents report data that varies by one or more members of one or more dimensions.

  • Only administrators with the appropriate rights can create book templates and publish books of reports.

  • The members used are those that are fixed in the report. Any members that are not fixed are taken from the current view of the user at the time the book is published.

  • The EvBNV (Book Navigation) feature returns a hyperlink to a report in a published book. You can optionally specify specific members within the report to display.

  • The system can run the book publication wizard while automatically inserting parameters. The following table describes the parameters.

The process of publishing a book of reports is as follows:

  1. Create the reports that you want to publish and save them to the report library.

  2. Create a book template. The template has links to one or more reports or to the various views of the report data. See Create a Book Template.

  3. Validate the report template. See Validate a Book Template.

  4. Publish the book of reports using the Book Publishing Wizard. See Publish a Book.

  5. If a book of reports is published to Interface for the Web, an administrator adds the book of reports to an Interface for the Web page, and selects the applicable viewers.
