Member RecognitionLocate this document in the navigation structure

You can enter members directly in a cell of a report. You can also enter Microsoft Office Excel formulas.

When the Member Recognition feature is activated, the members are automatically recognized.

When the Local Member Recognition feature is activated, the Microsoft Office Excel formulas are automatically converted into local members.

The Member Recognition features can be activated or deactivated by sheet or for all sheets.

If you have not activated the Member Recognition, you can launch it on an ad-hoc basis at any time.

Activating or Deactivating the Member Recognition

The Member Recognition can be activated or deactivated by sheet or for all sheets.

Select Start of the navigation path EPM Next navigation step Options Next navigation step Sheet Options End of the navigation path. Then, to activate or deactivate the Member Recognition or the Local Member Recognition to be applied to the current sheet, you can select or deselect the Activate Member Recognition or the Activate Local Member Recognition option.

If you want to apply your selection to any new worksheet that will be created, click the Save as Default button.

Launching the Member Recognition

If you have not activated the Member Recognition, you can launch it on an ad-hoc basis at any time.

You can use the Launch Member Recognition feature to create a new report in an empty worksheet. To launch the Member Recognition on the current worksheet, select Start of the navigation path Refresh Next navigation step Launch Member Recognition End of the navigation path.

You can also launch the Member Recognition for the report for which you have manually entered the members, by specifying the cell areas that correspond to the row axis, the column axis and the page axis. We recommend that you use this feature to update a range of members in existing reports or add a new report in a worksheet that already contains reports. To do so, select Start of the navigation path Refresh Next navigation step Launch Guided Member Recognition End of the navigation path. A dialog box opens and enables to specify the cell range for the row axis, then the column axis, then the page axis.

The guided member recognition can be processed on a multi-member page axis, provided that the member names do not contain the separator character specified in the option SeparatorForMultiPageHeader in the FPMXLClient.dll.config file.
Note You can specify the separator you want to use in the page axis when several members are selected, in the FPMXLClient.dll.config file, using the option SeparatorForMultiPageHeader. The default separator is the comma.

The member recognition is processed by hierarchy. As soon as one member is not recognized as a valid member:

  • The member recognition process is simply canceled and as a result, no member is recognized in the whole report.
  • A dialog box is displayed and indicates, for a specific hierarchy, the labels that are not recognized as members and their cell reference.
