EPMSelectMemberIDLocate this document in the navigation structure

Applies to: large-volume BAPI provider BW NW connections; SAP BW (INA Provider) connections.

This function enables you to retrieve the ID and caption of a specified member, for a specified hierarchy.

Once you have entered the function, “Double-click to select a member…” is displayed in the cell containing the function. When you double-click the cell, the Member Selector opens and you can select a member for the specified hierarchy.
Note if you want to display a specific property as an alternative name to the caption, you can select it from the dropdown list next to the hierarchy/list dropdown list in the Member Selector.
The caption of the selected member is displayed in the cell in which you have entered the function.The ID of the selected member is displayed in the destination cell.
Parameter Description
connection name Name of the connection.

For details about the syntax you must use, see Connection Name Parameter - Syntax.

If you are using a SAP BW (INA Provider) connection, for this particular EPM function, you can either enter the query alias or the InfoProvider name to which the query is associated. You can view this name when selecting the report in the Connections tab of the EPM pane.

Hierarchy name

Hierarchy to use. Mandatory.

Enter: "HierarchyName" or "DimensionName:HierarchyName".
Note if the Dimension Name is not specified, and if several hierarchies exist with the same name, then an arbitrary hierarchy is chosen by the system.

If several hierarchies have the same name, you can optionally specify the version of the hierarchy.

Enter: " DimensionName:HierarchyName:Version" or "HierarchyName:Version"
Destination cell Cell in which the ID of the member will be retrieved. Mandatory.
Member ID Do not specify anything.

This parameter will be automatically filled in with a member ID once you have selected a member in the Member Selector.
Member Caption Do not specify anything.

This parameter will be automatically filled in with a member caption – or, the selected property value - once you have selected a member in the Member Selector.
Property Do not specify anything.

This parameter will be automatically filled in with the property value selected in the dropdown list next to the hierarchy/list dropdown list in the Member Selector.
