 Displaying and Editing Generation Dates

Use

You can display the time periods and all the scheduled generation dates for the Balance Confirmation feature of an account as events. In addition, you can manually schedule new generation dates as events, and delete existing dates.

Prerequisites

  • Before you can display and edit generation dates, you need to allow the balance confirmation feature for your account product. Choose the Customizing for Account Management (FS-AM) under Start of the navigation path Product Management Next navigation step Product Definition Next navigation step Account Products Next navigation step Create Account Product. End of the navigation path

  • You have created the account for which you want to display and edit generation dates. You have done this by choosing Start of the navigation path Account Management (FS-AM) Next navigation step Account Next navigation step Account Master Data Next navigation step Create Account End of the navigation path from the SAP Easy Access screen, or by using a Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI), and by basing it on the above named product.

  • The Balance Confirmation feature must not be locked for the account.

  • The generation dates must be created in one of the following ways first:

    • The system has scheduled a generation date using the specifications that you entered on the Balance Confirmation tab page in the Time Periods area for the balance confirmation. You can only see this area if you have set the Determine Date for Mass Run indicator.

You cannot delete this generation date.

    • You have created a generation date. See also the section Create Generation Date Manually.

      Note Note

The next generation date is always the oldest print date of all existing scheduled time periods or events.

      End of the note.

Procedure

Displaying Generation Dates
  1. From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Start of the navigation path Account Management Next navigation step Account Next navigation step Balance Confirmation Next navigation step Display and Edit Creation Dates End of the navigation path .

  2. Enter the account identification data and choose Continue .

  3. The system displays the Display and Edit Generation Dates dialog box, which shows all the existing generation dates with their time periods and events.

    Note Note

To navigate to the account contract data, choose the Contract button.

Double-click on an event to navigate to the detail display.

    End of the note.
Creating Generation Dates Manually

In addition to the displayed generation dates, you can create as many extra generation dates as required, on which the system is to provide the data for a balance confirmation.

Note Note

This is not possible if the underlying account is currently being processed and is thus locked (for example, due to a contract change, or to the posting of a payment item). If this is the case, the system initially displays a message informing you that the change mode cannot be provided.

End of the note.
  1. To create a new generation date, proceed as described under Display Generation Date.

  2. Next, select the balance confirmation folder and choose Create Event.

    Note Note

The generation dates (events) to be created must be either on or after the generation date of the last balance confirmation.

    End of the note.
  3. Enter the date for which the system is to generate a balance confirmation.

  4. Choose Continue .

The system creates the corresponding event.

  5. Choose Save .

Deleting Generation Dates

You can delete all existing generation dates if the contract is not currently being processed and is thus locked (for example, due to a contract change or to the posting of a payment item). If this is the case, the system initially displays a message informing you that the change mode cannot be provided.

  1. Start off as described under Displaying Generation Dates.

  2. Then select the event (generation date) that you want to delete, and choose Delete Event. The system deletes the selected generation date.

  3. Choose Save .

Result

The system displays all the scheduled generation dates for balance confirmation, creates new generation dates, or deletes existing ones.

Examples

  • You want to find out when the next balance confirmation is being printed for your customer.
  • Your customer would like to receive a one-off additional balance confirmation on the 20 th of the current month. You arrange this by scheduling another generation date.
