Editing the Edit Condition Determination Group Box
In the Condition Determination
group box on the Condition Determination
tab page, you make the settings for the condition determination of the condition.
You can make the following settings:
If you edit a charge condition, you can enter a charge calculation method.
You can define whether and how the system is to calculate a charge for the periods in which a contract has only existed for part of the period (such as the months in which an account was opened or closed).
Enter an application period.
You use the application period to determine the intervals at which the system is to calculate interest or a charge. You can shift the first calculation to any time after the contract has been opened.
To shift the first application of interest or a charge, enter Account Opening Date in the Reference Date
field.
When you select the reference date, the system displays two other entry fields.
Specify the number of time units by which you want the period of use to shift in relation to the reference date.
Enter the unit of time for the shift to the reference date.
Note
We recommend that the interest or charge calculation takes place on the same day that the account is settled. You can thus determine a key date on which the calculation is to start.
Enter a determination period.
You use the determination period to determine the period of time that is to be analyzed for condition determination. This means that a time period defined by you is considered for condition determination, rather than the settlement period. The determination period can differ from the application period. The length of the determination period can be any.
Note
You must have made settings for a period of use before you can set a calculation period.
To move the determination period in relation to the application period, enter the following:
Specify the number of time units by which the system is to shift the determination period in relation to the start of the application period.
Enter the unit of time for the determination period shift.
Shifts are always made in the past.
To specify the balance for the condition determination, enter either a turnover class or a calculation basis.
You can use the turnover class to determine the subset of turnovers during the determination period that the system is to use for condition determination. If you do not enter a turnover class, the system uses the value date-based balance for the condition determination.
You can use the calculation basis to determine the balances to which the interest calculation is to be applied, or to determine the balance to which the system is to apply the charge condition.
If you enter a turnover class, also specify how the system is to calculate a balance from the amounts of that turnover class.
In the Balancing Method
field, enter the calculation method that the system is to use to determine the balance of the amounts in the selected turnover class.
In the Balance Basis
field, specify whether you want to use the period balance, aggregated balance, or the turnovers without balance determination for the calculation of the balance.
In the Balance Category
field, specify whether the system is to include all balances of the period, or only the credit or debit balances.
If you entered balancing method Average and balance category Debit Balance or Credit Balance, you need to enter a period category.
You can specify whether the system is to calculate the average from the days of the whole period, or from the effective days on which there was a credit or debit balance.
You have defined the condition determination in the condition.
A customer opens a checking account on 02/19/02. The monthly account maintenance charges are to be calculated within the first two months after the account is opened. Account settlement is to be executed quarterly. The amount of the account maintenance charges depends on the amount of the average credit balance (calculated from the effective days of the period balance) over the previous two months. EUR 2.50 is to be charged for amounts up to EUR 2,000 and EUR 1.50 for the average balance that exceeds this. Charges are calculated pro rata.
