Procedure documentationEditing the Automatic Waivers Group Box

In the Automatic Waivers group box, you edit the fields of a condition that are included in Amount Category 170000 Automatic Waiver. In this group box you define a condition for an automatic waiver. This condition means that the bank waives certain prices (interest and charges) or parts of those prices before it bills them to the customer.

To make the waiver easy for the customer to understand, the system generates a separate posting for the waiver amount. You can control this procedure with the waiver method, which you can set up in Customizing for condition types in your application, in the condition type for automatic waivers.

The system calculates automatic waiver conditions for price conditions. You can define them as standard conditions or individual conditions. An automatic waiver condition always refers to at least one reference condition type. The Permit Waiver checkbox must be selected for the assigned amount category in Customizing for this condition type.

Prerequisites

  • In the Customizing of your application, you have defined a condition type and entered the amount category 170000 Automatic Waiver and selected the Waiver Allowed checkbox in the Amount Category dialog structure for this condition type.

  • In the Waiver dialog structure you have processed the posting types of the waiver for the condition type.

  • In the Customizing of the application, you have created a condition group type for the automatic waiver and assigned it to the condition types of the waiver. This condition group type must be from condition group category Automatic Waiver (7).

  • You have defined waiver periods in the Customizing for your application.

  • To include any manual charges that are incurred in an automatic waiver, you have also executed the Customizing activity Assign Condition Type to Transaction Type.

  • In Customizing for your application you have activated the Waiver attribute in the product definition.

Procedure

You can make the following settings:

  1. In the Condition Form field, you can enter the use for the condition.

  2. You can enter a payment currency other than the condition currency.

For more information about the dependencies of currencies in conditions, see Currencies in Conditions.

  3. You use the Tiers/Intervals field to create one or more condition items.

    • To create a waiver condition with one condition item, choose 0 (no tiered or interval calculation) in the Tier/Interval field.

    • To create a waiver condition with more than one condition item, enter 5 (multiple rule) in the Tier/Interval field.

You use the formula editor to define multiple rules for a condition. The systems checks these in sequence. To create a rule, choose Define Condition Rule (Define Condition Rule).

The system checks and uses all rules.

  4. Enter one or more reference condition types for each condition item.

  5. Select the Waiver From checkbox. This specifies whether the system includes an upper limit for the calculation of the waiver amount, or if it ignores a particular amount of the charge during the waiver amount calculation.

    • If you do not select the checkbox in condition editing, you either need to fill the Amount or the Percentage field. The system interprets this amount or percentage of the incurred charge as the maximum possible waiver charge. The bank charges the customer for amounts that exceed this amount.

    • If you select this checkbox, you can make the following entries:

      • You fill the Amount field.

      • You fill the Amount and Percentage fields. In both cases, the system interprets the amount as a lower limit, above which it calculates waiver amounts. The system bills amounts up to this amount providing the amount is the same as or less than the original debit.

  6. Enter a waiver period that determines the time period in which an amount is waived (independent of the validity period of the waiver condition).

    Note Note

Define the waiver periods in Customizing in your application.

The time period for a waiver period is determined as follows:

    • The end of the waiver period corresponds with the end of the current settlement period.

    • The start of the waiver period is determined by taking into account the key dates (starting from the end of the waiver period) entered in Customizing for the Waiver period in your application.

    End of the note.

Result

You have defined an automatic waiver.
