Prerequisites 

The prerequisites for implementing a multitenant portal are as follows:

·        You have installed the following usage types for SAP NetWeaver 2004s:

¡        Enterprise Portal (EP)

¡        Application Server Java (AS-Java)

·        You have configured your portal, during installation, to store user management data in the portal database.

·        You have installed usage type Development Infrastructure (DI) if you intend to develop applications and content for the portal.

·        You have performed the initial configuration tasks in the portal after installing usage type EP. For more information, see Initial Configuration Tasks.

Make sure you adhere to the portal permission configuration guidelines described by the initial configuration tasks. By failing to do so, you run the risk that a tenant may lack the correct runtime permissions when it is created and being unable to access the initial content assigned to it.

·        You have in-depth experience working in the design-time environment of the portal. You understand cross-portal concepts related to content administration, user management, and portal permissions.
