Procedure documentation Installing the Component Build Service

Note

As previously mentioned, it is very important that the support package level of the Java Development Infrastructure is the same as the support package level underlying the J2EE engine. A violation of this rule can lead to severe problems.

Prerequisite

SAP J2EE Engine and User Management Engine (UME) have been installed and configured.

Installation

The installation wizard lets you select how the user management is configured when you install in custom mode.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

...

       1.      Select the mode for the user management.

                            a.      If you use the option Use the J2EE Database, you have to create users in the user administration tool in the J2EE Engine. This option makes sense only if a small number of users must be administrated. The SAP NetWeaver Java Development Infrastructure consists of several services that may run on different machines.

Note

The user / password combination that a developer takes to log on to NWDI, must be valid for all services. Having several locations where user management information has to be maintained is error prone. Additionally this increases the administration effort as well.

                            b.      Thus option Use a Central ABAP System is recommended as default. In this case the users can be imported from an ABAP system. For more information on the settings of the user management, see Structure linkUser Management in the Component Build Service.

For more information on configuring a central user management via option Use a Central ABAP System, see Structure linkUsers and Authorizations on the J2EE Engine.
