Environment
Before you can begin creating tenants in your portal you need to perform a number of configuration steps.
...

2. Set up trust between the portal and all SAP systems, including identification of tenant names in the logon module options. For more information, see Setting Up Trust Between SAP Systems.
3. Set up the system landscape, such as:
¡ Configuring content-centric backend systems and connecting them to the portal
¡ Securing the system landscape; for example, configuring HTTP services and firewalls for external access or special domains.
4. Activate the User Management Engine (UME) to support portal multitenancy. See Enabling UME to Support a Multitenant Portal.
