Background documentation Debugging in a Cluster Configuration Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

A typical cluster configuration of the SAP Web AS consists of several instances (represented by 00 , 03, and 07 in the following graphic). Each of these instances in turn comprises a dispatcher and one or (usually) more nodes that represent the actual server processes (Server0, Server1, ... ServerN). Furthermore, the SDM node is assigned to one of the Java instances.

In a production system, most of the nodes are reserved for the Web AS and therefore have the status Productive. Server nodes of this type within the multi-server configuration cannot be used for debugging.

In such a configuration, one or more server nodes are intended for debugging. Only for these nodes, is it possible to switch between run and debugging modes. After debugging is activated, the reserved server is removed from the cluster communication and is then fully reserved for debugging.
