Purpose

During runtime, Object-Based Navigation (OBN) entails launching an iView based on a back-end business object and receiving real-time information relevant to the user’s role. However, designing useful OBN content often requires a complex combination of administrative tasks, including editing permissions and roles, importing business objects, creating and editing iViews and operations, and determining what may be a complicated set of priorities.

Process Flow

Some of the design time tasks involved are cross-portal. The importing of business objects from the PCD to the Business Object folder in the Portal Content Catalog, and the creation and editing of operations, are specific OBN tasks. The basic workflow is:

...

       1.      Import business objects.

       2.      Create operations for business objects.

       3.      Edit operations in order to implement connections to portal iViews or pages.

       4.      If necessary, edit iViews to attach and further prioritize operations.
