The simple standalone installation of the SAP Web AS consists of a single instance (referred to as 00 in the following graphic), which in turn comprises a Java dispatcher, the Software Deployment Manager (SDM), and a node that represents the actual server process (Server0 in the graphic below). For the server node, it is possible to switch between run and debugging modes. By default, the run mode is set after starting the server, but this can be changed using the J2EE Engine configuration tool. Only after debugging is activated, is the server stopped and thus fully reserved for debugging.
