Using the Permission Editor
You use the Permission Editor to assign user, group and role permissions to portal objects.
Permissions for users, groups and roles are assigned to portal folders and objects that are displayed in the Portal Catalog.
The procedures carried out in the Permission Editor are based on the permission inheritance scheme. Each folder and object in the Portal Catalog can have permissions assigned directly to it; otherwise it inherits permissions from its parent folder or object. For information, see Permission Inheritance Model.
Using the Permission Editor, you can define permissions to the following objects in the Portal Catalog:
· Business objects and operations
· Folders and portal objects, such as iViews, portal pages, layouts, roles, worksets, packages and systems.
· Resource bundles
· Security zones and safely levels used to authorize direct URL access to portal components and services
· Portal components
You can also edit permissions already assigned, restoring permission inheritance between parents their child objects.
