Standard Portal Content
The sub-topics in this section describe the initial content delivered with the portal.
The Portal Catalog enables an ACL-based approach to the unrestricted delegation of portal tools and content to users, such as task-oriented administrator and end-user groups. The delegation of administrative tasks is complemented by the ability to define user-based permissions for portal content objects in the Portal Catalog.

Note that default content supplied with the portal exists twice in the portal content directory (PCD). Source objects are located in the Portal Catalog under Portal Content ® Content Provided by SAP. Delta link instances of source objects exist elsewhere in the PCD, and are dispersed in the remaining folders under Portal Content in the Portal Catalog.
Do not move, delete, or modify the source content under Content Provided by SAP, as this will affect successful versioning upgrades with updated content shipped by SAP. You may handle the delta links instances as needed to suit your environment; however we strongly recommend you maintain the linkage to the source content through the respective delta links. See also Delta Links and SAP Content Objects.
The initial content supplied with the portal comprises the following:
· roles
· user groups
· worksets
· layouts
· portal pages
· iViews (navigation, content, and tools)
· portal desktops
· portal themes
· framework pages
· rule collections
Certain elements are supplied with the core portal platform, while others are supplied only after you install the Knowledge Management (KM) platform. Refer to the sub-topics in this section for details.
For information on the default permissions assigned to initial portal content, see Default Permissions.
