Use

To process SQL statements as quickly as possible, the database system uses the following methods, among others:

·        Automatic Transformation of SQL Statements

·        Calculating the best search strategy for an SQL statement with the SQL Optimizer

The performance of a database instance is significantly influenced by the configuration of the database instance and the structure of the database.

Activities

·        For good I/O performance, observe the tips for creating and configuring a database instance.

·        Choose suitable database parameters.

·        Update the SQL Optimizer statistics regularly.

·        For short access times for data queries, observe the database design tips.

Monitoring Performance

To monitor performance during operation, you can use the Database Analyzer, the Database Manager GUI, the Database Manager CLI and XCONS.
