Backup Medium 

You require backup media to back up data and log entries or to restore a database instance. The database system writes the backups to the backup media and, in the event of an error, reads this information from the backup media.

The following types of backup media are available:

·        File

·        Tape (including autoloaders)

·        Pipe

You can combine multiple backup media in a group of parallel backup media.
